Black Sheep Custom Guitars

The Model 1 is the culmination of all the best elements of your favorite guitars. Drawing inspiration from classic designs, we set out to fuse the best parts of them all into one rock machine. This model was fully designed by hand with only a pencil and paper- no computers, AI, or other digital cheat-codes were used in the design process. This guitar was created entirely by humans, for humans. Our design elements were loosely influenced by several famous brands from both the USA and Japan spanning 5 decades of guitar design. The result is a guitar that feels as good as it performs.

Each of our instruments are hand crafted in Easton, Maryland. Our headstock shape to our neck carve and body shape are fully original and hand-carved.  We believe that an instrument is a personal thing, and should be crafted in a personal way. From top to bottom, our guitars are built the old-fashioned way: by hand. Our guitar is an original design from top to bottom. We also specialize in custom finish options, including our unique "thermochromic" (heat-sensitive) finishes. We can finish a guitar in lacquer or polyurethane with our unique blend of color that changes when body heat is applied. We also offer a range of color-shifting options or traditional solid colors. It is up to you!

We want our guitars to be played. Most custom, hand-built guitars are simply works of art and are treated as such: hung on a wall. We build our instruments for actual musicians. To that end, we offer a wide range of premium components to tailor each guitar to the style of the player. We also offer custom, hand-built instruments priced to cater to the stage musician, not the rich collector. Our guitars are premium quality, hand-built instruments at shockingly affordable prices. We do this deliberately because we know that real musicians take into account risk of damage and theft when they pick the gear they actually take to the gig. We want our guitar to be the workhorse, not the show-pony.
