We provide detailed evidence-based analysis which sometimes results in conclusive denial of an instrument's authenticity. While we cannot always guarantee this kind of confirmation, we will provide a detailed list of facts for comparison to factory specs, as well as our expertise on what to look for to draw your own conclusions. Check out our blog on this topic for an example of how we conduct this kind of analysis.
All guitars require a setup to make adjustments on the working parts to ensure playability. This is especially true on guitars that have not been played recently or have been in storage a long time. Virtually all guitars are made of wood, and factors such as humidity, temperature, and age of the wood will change how the parts all work together. A setup ensures that your merchandise is as clean and feels as playable as possible for its condition when it hangs on your shop wall. This is often a decisive factor if your customer buys a guitar or walks away.
No. All guitars require this service periodically to remain playable. The setup process cleans, inspects, and makes adjustments to the existing original hardware, similar to a tune-up on a car.
